Steps for learning Tunisian Arabic
- 1Identify your basic level of Arabic knowledge. If you have a previous level of understanding of Modern Standard or Classical Arabic, you will be able to learn Tunisian Arabic much more quickly.
- 2Search the Internet for Tunisian Arabic resources. Look for websites that have Tunisian Arabic content, written or spoken, and compare what you find to other dialects of the language.
- 3Spend time listening to Tunisian Arabic. Many of the differences between Tunisian and Modern Standard Arabic are in the pronunciation. Even a word as simple as "la" ("no") tends to be pronounced as "lay" in Tunisian Arabic.
- 4Take a course in Tunisian Arabic. Most Arabic courses focus on Modern Standard Arabic, unless they indicate otherwise. There are, however, classes offered by universities and language schools that focus on the various Arabic dialects.
- 5Study Arabic in Tunisia. This is by far the best place to learn the Tunisian dialect of Arabic. We suggest a language school that offers Tunisia Arabic tutoring: Ariana International Language School. It offers Tunisian Arabic language training provided by native Tunisian English teachers. The tutoring takes place one-on-one in friendly, relaxed environments in 3 lications: Tunis, Ariana, Bizerte. To contact Ariana Language School email to:medbtunis@gmail.com
